Man dies after crash at World Paragliding Championship in Canelinha, Santa Catarina, Brazil.

A 28 year old died after falling from gliding into Canelinha, in Florianópolis, on this Sunday afternoon. According to the Fire Department, the accident occurred during a hang gliding championship which Renato Ribeiro, known as Renatinho, was participating.

The amateur cameraman Moacir Costa recorded on video the flight until the time of the fall (see video at left) and first aid. As the pictures show, he took off and got to practice some maneuvers, assisted by the public. About 40 seconds later, the machine crashed into the vegetation.

According to colleagues, Renato was an experienced pilot and instructor acted as inclusive sport. On the flight school that worked, he says his first flight was with three years in Lagoa da Conceição, Florianópolis, in a dual with his father Rogerio Ribeiro Campos, a pilot since 1984 and who died in 2007. Renato was married and had a daughter four years.
