The approaching front

A few days out and even as late as this morning it looked like a
very good day in Florida for a nice ride to the north:

The wind speeds are in knots. Combine that with a good look forecast for lift:

Add in clouds with the likelihood of cloud streets and convergence up the middle
of the state and it looked like a boomer.

It was clear why this was happening. A front was over Mobile, Alabama in the
morning and coming our way:

The front was far enough away that it shouldn't negatively affect us, or so I
thought. This would be even a better day than the one where Dustin and Jonny
went 283 miles because the front was not as close as on that day.

But out in front of the front were high clouds and that combined with a milky
colored sky made it appear not to be so great:

There were plenty of cu's and lots of light soft lift with a good 15 mph wind
right out of the south and cloud base at 4,500', but given how poor things
looked to the north, we didn't get started until way late and then while we had
a good time, it wasn't any kind of a record breaking day. Most pilots flew
single surface gliders just for fun. I was on a new Wills Wing T2C and headed
back upwind after getting near the Turnpike to land at the Grass Roots airfield:

There was almost 100% cumulus and otherwise cloud cover.
