Bulgarian National Aero Club (BNAC) has not sanctioned the 2013
Balkan Cup (see here). The rest of the Balkan countries National Aero Clubs have
not taken a decision on such a meet and no national teams will be sent to
represent Balkan Countries. This "Balkan Cup" is a "family" meet organised by a
small Bulgarian Hang Gliding club with no experience what so ever in organising
hang gliding competitions. The place chosen has never been used for hang gliding
competitions due to terrain and weather conditions which are considered inferior
compared to other hang gliding sites in Bulgaria.

BNAC has chosen to organise Bulgarian Open 27 July - 04 August 2013 from well
known and extensively flown hang gliding start places at NW Bulgaria. This is
going to be a CAT2 FAI sanctioned meet and pilots from all Europe are invited
and expected to attend the Bulgarian Open Championships.

I guess this information will help pilots to plan their flying and competition
activities for the summer 2013. I have been organising hang gliding groups to
fly Bulgaria in twenty years and shall be happy to assist pilots who might
