Flying in the Florida cold
Mark Frutiger writes:
Nobody flew the open or sport tasks. Too cold. Too blue. The 13MPH
North wind also made it unlikely anyone would make the last upwind legs with
only the 4k feet we were getting. That said, lots of flying was had with 1 to 2
hour soaring flights. Olav, leading our international contingent, was off first.
He soared for an hour around the patch before the rest of us were convinced that
we could stay up. Cheers to the Norwegians! Great day practicing staying up, not
getting blown downwind and punching into headwinds with marginal altitude.
