The forecast was for stronger winds than on Thursday, a low strong inversion, no
cu's and cooler temperatures. Pilots absolutely rely on and love cu's. Without
them their motivation is significantly reduced and their has to be other good
reasons to get going, especially after they are tired from long flights the day
before.

The wind happens to also be the wrong direction across all the runways and
strong enough to make launching sideways problematic. Much work was done to find
a launching area in the grass. Being used to the nice smooth surfaces of the
runways, we can't find a place that we are comfortable with. The grass covered
areas here are not rolled and flat like they are at hang gliding flight parks.

The pilots are polled to see if they want to carry out the task that we've come
up with. Only Larry Bunner is a positive vote. Jamie calls the day. We have two
days of competition on Saturday and Sunday.
