Over the Victorian spar town of Matlock Bath on Saturday 25th, heading north
from Airways Airpark from an aerotow with Judy Leden. My FAI triangle failed,
but I landed very close to my house after 5.5 hours.
Picture from a flight north from my home along the Derwent reservoir valley on
the 26th. This was the dam system used to practice the dam buster bouncing bomb
raids during WW2, and was the scene of remembrance flights by the last remaining
airworthy Lancaster just a couple of weeks ago - when most of our flying sites
were closed by NOTAM for the day.
This was a really good holiday weekend. Saturday base rose to 7000ft, Sunday
"only" 5600ft but with better marked thermals with more cumulus.
