I am competing in the Team Challenge. The move to early September
seems to be working with one truly epic day so far and most people flying most
days. Conditions have allowed tasks to be called but yesterday the thermals were
too weak for all but a handful of experienced pilots.

The real strength of the competition though is the so many firsts that the C
pilots are getting - first cloudbase, first thermal (and stayed in it), first
cross country goal, first land out, first flying in a gaggle, first flying with
paragliders and more. The knowledge transfer from the A pilots to the B and C is
just fantastic and an excellent opportunity to learn to fly cross country
safely. As a low airtime H3 it is more than I had hoped for!

We are having wonderful weather this year with the move early
September. Everyone had a great soaring day before the comp started, and have
flown some every day. It is hard to call tasks for our mixed level group, but we
are doing our best. Soaring Sunday, Monday lightly crossed so cancelled task and
free flew. Tuesday was an epic day with lots of people making their goals and
many personal bests. Wednesday was very weak with only a few soaring, but
everyone doing well with safe launch and landings. We look forward to a couple
more good days and a great party.
