Flying the Moyes Litespeed RX 3.5

I took my first test flight on a Moyes RX 3.5 on Saturday at Bald
Hill at Stanwell Park in NSW, Australia. The wind was quite strong with three
wire assists for most launches (I had two) and just built up as the day went on. It
was south or south southeast, which makes it difficult to head across the
gap to the hillsides to the south.

I found in those conditions at least the RX was easy to handle on launch and in
the air. I had assumed that it would be stiff in turns but that was not the
case. It was quite pleasant to turn with minimal effort.

The VG is easy to pull on and only requires a short rope. The difference in bar
position with the VG almost full on was quite noticeable and there was little
bar pressure when I stuffed the bar. Quite a difference in speed also.

The landing characteristics in that wind are hard to gauge. It was straight and
level on approach even though I was landing a bit cross wind. (I was watching
the flags and thinking that the wind was right down the beach, but it was in
fact coming a little bit from the east, from the ocean.)

I'll be flying the RX at Forbes at the Forbes Flatlands.
