Batten Templates
After a big lay off at his former employer after it was purchased
by an American company, Attila Bertok started working with Moyes Delta gliders.
One of the first things he came up with was a way to reduce the time it took to
produce batten of the right curvature by two thirds. He produced a set of
templates, a way to quickly change the templates, and a batten material holder
that assured a cloned product. Here is the batten bending machine (minus the human hand that does the actual
bending):

The key is to know how to relate the template curve to the curve formed by the
batten when it springs back. Of course, Gerolf had already designed the batten
curves (relying on XFOIL,
