The forecast for Saturday was right except for that little thing
about no clouds. There are always clouds when the wind comes out of the south
southeast here at Quest Air.  And the cu's started early. The forecast said
light winds 5 to 7 knots out of the south southeast, good lift at 600 to 700 fpm
and top of lift at 6,000' to 7,000' AGL (it's only 120' elevation here).

This is what it looked like late in the afternoon when cloud base was
approaching 7,000':

Quest had a full house on Friday when the wind was more east than southeast, and
there were very few cu's. I waited until Saturday for the lighter winds and the
cu filled sky. I was not the only one to get off quite early at 1,000' AGL in
strong lift.

Pilots filled the sky and I was quickly down to the Seminole airfield for the
last day of the Masters Sailplane Championship and then a glide back 14 .5 KM to
Quest. Others hung around longer, but I made it a quick trip.

Used the Wills Wing wing tips again. Maybe they make the glider stiffer. Seemed
that way in this stronger air. I'll try it without them soon as the weather
changes back to this.

Lots of new students today as well as many commercial tandems. Fifty eight
airplane operations.
