New Chelan Butte site record
Richard Hass, USHPA President, <<richhass>>
introduces us to the pilot who flew the flight:
By way of background, Matty is an Aussie pilot married to a
Seattle pilot named Heather. Matty also happens to be the pilot who was shot at
last summer at the Chelan Classic. Not to digress, but I recently attended the Chelan landowners hearing where the
landowner was found innocent of the charge of displaying a weapon. Matty was
called as a witness, so Heather and I joined him for moral support. It was an
interesting day, to say the least.

On Saturday we had super nice conditions in Chelan, I launched
early with the new state record in mind. The record was set last year by Alex Raymont flying a Delta 2 at 155 miles. On
Saturday the wind direction was the same as for Alex's flight, ideal for
avoiding Spokane airspace and going long into Idaho. Morgan Hollingsworth also flying a Delta 2, glided over the Columbia with me.
The two of us enjoyed perfect clouds, strong climbs and a nice 10-15mph tail
wind. Morgan landed a personal best about 30miles SE or Ritzville, 120 miles
from Chelan, while I ended up crossing the Idaho boarder and landing east of
Deary at 179 miles. Huge thanks to my incredible wife Heather StClair for
chasing us all over the state for twelve hours. Thanks to Alex and Meredyth for
showing us the line. Http://www.paraglidingforum.com/leonardo/flight/925716 http://siterecords.blogspot.com/ Chelan Butte -
