Active professional hornist, Felix Cantesanu came the the U.S. from Romania in 2001 at the age of 23 after completing a Bachelor of Music degree from the "Gheorghe Dima" Music Academy in Cluj. Summer music studies brought him to discover and develop a deep admiration for the American school of brass playing. He remained in the U.S. to pursue his Masters Degree in Horn Performance and began to study with prominent horn players and educators. It was at the University of Alabama where he met his wife, Gabrielle, a Board Certified
Music Therapist and also a horn player.
Prior to arriving to the United States, Felix held the Principal Horn position with the Oradea State Philharmonic, a job he won at age 19, as well as Third/Associate Principal horn with the Romanian State Opera - Cluj. As a regular extra, he worked with several other professional ensembles resulting in countless performances at home as well as numerous international tours taking him to countries throughout Europe and to Japan.
In the United States, Felix continues to perform professionally as a regular substitute musician for the National Symphony Orchestra, as well as appearances with the Baltimore Symphony, Atlanta Symphony, Richmond Symphony, Memphis Symphony and other regional orchestras throughout the country.
