We finally took over ownership of Belmont Airport Aka Aeropelican on the 30th
June. Airborne is very excited to be a part of a five way syndicate that
includes Matt Hall Racing (Redbull Air Racer), Skydive the Beach, Newcastle
Helicopters and RB Aviation. We have since commenced with a clean up of the old derelict airport which was
also dangerous for the kids that were accessing the site and vandalising some of
the old buildings. Within just a few short weeks a transformation can already be
seen that most of the local community and our local council will be pleased to
see. Certainly it is something positive happening in our community as the
airport has been a public eyesore for far too many years. We plan to move our individual businesses to the airport and to make an exciting
sport aviation adventure hub, probably the first of it's type in Australia.
Airborne itself employs 13 staff and we hope to be able to increase staff
numbers to our pre GFC levels of 34 people maybe many more. Other spin-off
businesses such as aviation maintenance and related services including medi-vac
services will eventually increase local employment opportunities. Medical care
flights are already run from and into the airport. There will be an increase in local tourism in the area which will be a huge
benefit to the local business community and again provide much needed and
valuable employment opportunities locally. In fact the airport is already
generating employment by involving local business contractors in the airport
site clean up.
