Thanks for your letter. I consider the Oz Report as one of the
main sources for pilots to get information, including technical information. I
really appreciate it, but there is not much to say this time. We had several
prototypes with carbon leading edge tubes flying around, two of them in the US.
Due to the broken leading edge tube on Felix's glider we have grounded all those
gliders and advised their pilots to send leading edge tubes to our carbon fiber
manufacturer in Switzerland for investigation. Our carbon guys and we are in
touch with all these pilots. It seems the problem has been found, the
replacement tubes will be sent out shortly and we hope that the serial
production of our Combat C will start soon.
As Oleg states Felix was the first pilot to find the problem when
he found that his leading edge was broken when he setup the glider after flying
it the previous day. He sent the section that failed into Aeros.
None of the other prototypes have failed but they are all grounded. Greg Dinnaur
drove with his to the SCFR but found out on the way that he would be unable to
fly it here.
