Hang gliding is a local sport
Forget the past, it's hanging around for no good reason. Hang gliding succeeds
where there is a school, an instructor, a way to get into the air, and some good
flying weather. Not every day, just enough to bring out the enthusiasts. Sure there is a need for a lot of local action for a national company to
succeed, for a national organization to continue holding bi-annual meetings, for
the Worlds to take place. But what makes hang gliding is a local success. Quest Air and hang gliding flight parks in Florida are examples of local
successes. When the forecast was for a great Sunday the locals came out in droves. I had my first flight of the new year six weeks after shoulder surgery:
