Two pilots missed goal
Jeff Bohl missed the goal cylinder by 200 meters. He was low and
hadn't looked at the Google Earth presentation about the task. So he didn't know
exactly where the center of the goal cylinder was. He saw the arrow point back
behind him as he passed the cylinder but was too low then. He landed in the
wrong field. If he had seen the presentation he would have landed in the correct
field which was right next to the turnpoint. Dave Lopez had his GPS malfunction on his 6030. His vario continued to work and
he just followed other pilots to the next two turnpoints and then to goal, but
just barely missed it (about 500 meters). Both took their scores with good
humor.
