Leading points

The unfair part of leading points is that they are applied even
when pilots are flying with different start times. Rarely to never does a pilot
take the twenty minute later start time because he knows the incredible
advantage it offers of seeing all your competitors who are in fact miles ahead
and out of sight.
Leading points during a race start race. Sure.
Between starts so that you have to absolutely flog your opponents to even tie
them. Seems unfair.
And the final part that bothers me. Jonny always seems to imply that the best
pilots are constantly pulling and leading.
Hang gliding is about 99% tactical. Letting everyone know how awesome you are by
constantly leading out may be the wrong tactical move. Obviously, since Oleg
wins without taking the unnecessary risk.
I often lead because I either get lucky and find myself out front or more often
I get stupid and lack patience and a clear head. If pilots want to change what
merits points in competitions then great. But arguing that pulling and risk
taking is the way to win goes nowhere with me. Because you will eventually end
up on the ground in the heat given enough days and no amount of awesome points
will dig you out.
