We had a hard time with the take-off conditions in Andradas so four days were
cancelled.

The cancellations were due to this:

2nd day: conditions were excellent but the wind switched from consistent North
to nil wind with Southerly puffs and also some tail wind periods. After 2 top
pilots had heart stopping take-offs, one of them cropping a few branches and
leafs on the top of the trees in front of takeoff the safety committee correctly
concluded that someone would get hurt if this continued and that there was no
fair way to put all pilots in the air in the right time. Only 1 hour later the
wind got perfect South and everybody could have had a great task if it was all
moved 1 hour ahead, except by then, some 10 pilots were already in the air and
the task couldn't be changed anymore.

5th day: the wind switched from consistent North to strong Northwest. The
Northwest launch in Andradas has a very critical wood ramp. It is perfectly safe
for a free fly situation, but again the Safety committee felt that it would be
unfair to try and launch 50 gliders in that ramp. As the wind got more and more
gusty it was clear that the situation would have been very dangerous, specially
for the Sport Class who would have to take off later in stronger wind. The sky
looked great on that day, so it was unfortunate.

6th day: the influence of a cold front brought strong winds, lenticular clouds,
bleak cirrus covered skies and it was very gusty on the ground.

7th day: rain
