The USHPA can't take their members' money if they want to pay for
their membership a few years in advance.

Mark Forbes writes:

We don't have a good way of taking dues pre-payments, because of
how the existing database and website works. We're in the middle of a major
upgrade (great timing on the insurance crisis, eh?) And once we get that done
we'll have a much more stable platform to work on. The existing website is built
on 15-20 year old technology and it's a house of cards when it comes to
significant changes.

There are also issues related to our waiver (has to be signed every year) and
California law regarding membership associations and how they're allowed to
assess dues. We might be able to solve those problems, given time, but time is
what we're short on.
