HG instructor was to test fly an used glider to take with him for
a student. He borrowed a harness and a helmet. The helmet was much bigger size
which resulted that on launch the pilots vision was totally restricted by the
tilted forward helmet. He missed the bar and it was his intuition and experience
that saved a much worse landing. Pilot and glider had no scratch, the bottom
line - do not borrow bigger size helmets when flying other gliders.
