Durand said while it was great to get the fastest time on
Thursday, just making it goal was the only thing on everyone’s mind.

“Obviously just completing the task was the first thing that we all wanted to
do,” he said.

“It was a day that we didn’t think we’d have a lot of competitors finish, if
any.

“Speed wasn’t really a factor, I was just trying to finish. It just happened
that I had the fastest time in the end.”

While the conditions on Thursday weren’t the best, Durand said it was enough to
get 26 of the 56 competitors to their goal. See your ad here

“It wasn’t fantastic but we had wind,” he said.

“We were getting to about 8,000 feet and had 35km of wind which was helping push
everyone along.

“It was still a challenging day; many pilots flew for eight hours yesterday.

“We took off at lunch time and landed at sunset...had about three hours sleep
and now we’re doing it all again.”
