The USHPA going for $2,800,000
http://FreeFlightForever.org/
USHPA is pursing self-insurance and has raised the minimum
necessary to set up an RRG. The money we raise above this minimum goal will be
used to increase the RRGs initial capital and offset startup costs. This will
make the RRG stronger and better able to protect our sites, schools, and
members.
So far weve raised $2,066,640, including $896,640 from 2545 generous members
and a $100,000 challenge grant pledged by a member to complete our $2,000,000
minimum. We have raised $2,066,640 every dollar strengthens the RRG
financially, so make your tax-deductible contribution today!
Mark Forbes writes:
Anything beyond the minimum we set will still help a lot. We ran
the numbers based on cutting it as close as we could on the USHPA cash reserve,
and using everything we can come up with on the letter of credit against the
equity in our office. If we have some cash over the minimum, it buys us some
breathing room in case something comes up that we didn't expect, or expenses to
set up the RRG run higher than estimated. So far, things look good.
The money was raised from about twenty five percent of the
membership. Perhaps it is time that the other 75% helped out.
Paul Murdoch, USHPA President, writes:
I realize that many donations are still in process. The obvious
question is whether to extend the Free Flight Forever campaign. The short answer
is yes. Our $2 million target was the minimum required to fund the RRG. We are
continuing to accept donations, and every donation advances our cause. But let's
be sure that those who have donations in process know exactly how additional
funds help our efforts.
Some will be used to increase the RRG's initial capital. A larger capital fund
makes us stronger in all ways. The more capital in the RRG, the greater the
solvency, the stronger the RRG is, and the more acceptable it is to insurance
regulators. Better capitalization also makes the RRG more attractive to
reinsurers and ultimately reduces the cost and need for reinsurance.
Some will be used to help offset roughly $200K in RRG startup costs that have
come out of USHPA's operating budget.
