Eleven years ago today my friend Chris Muller flew too low too
fast and ended a lifetime of flying higher, faster and with more style than any
other pilot I’ve ever met. This Pondella shot is from the “Huckspedition" trip
we did to Monument Valley with a team that included Chris and a bunch of other
stellar people from the Red Bull Air Force.

As “The climber” I got to climb the Totem Pole legally while getting fly-bys
from Chris and others, one of the best experiences of my life. As I look back on
that trip I think of Chris, and also Shane McConkey, Charlie Fowler and Ueli
Gegenshatz, all of whom were also there but no longer lighting up the planet as
they once did.

I remember some great people doing amazing things for the sheer astounding joy
of being alive and able to do something ridiculously beautiful and cool. I also
see the shadows in this picture. Here’s to remembering Chris today, and others
who made life taste so much better.
