Fairhaven Micro-Alti

I got one of these mini vario-altimeters from England, the
Fairhaven Micro-Alti, Clive Buxton proprietor. Less than 1-1/2" square. Rechargeable, digital readout, infinitely adjustable.
Comes with a wrist mount, but can be chin-strap or helmet mounted if desired. Sensitivity and damping are adjustable to the extreme that it becomes virtually
unusable - best to set it in the middle of the range. Performance and reliability is vastly superior to the other best-selling brand
(I tried theirs and ditched it due to pathetic performance). Display is larger
than most mini-varios. Audio much louder than the competition. Size makes it
ideal for hike-and-fly or local ridge-soaring. Small enough to have less overall drag than a streamlined pod for ridge racing.
The only negative might be that settings and adjustments require one to enter
the murky labyrinth of long-short mystery button-pushing combinations; I keep a
cheat-sheet in the bag for those occasions. I highly recommend it. http://altivario.com/index.htm
