Scot Maue, long-time and well-loved friend of many and hang
gliding pilot with the Green Point Flyers Association (GPFA), passed on to
eternal and perpetual thermal-filled skies on August 2, 2016. This, after a
well-fought battle with cancer. Green Point is a NW lower Michigan coastal ridge
hang gliding and paragliding site near Frankfort/Elberta, Michigan. Scot was an iconic pilot, an iconic personality, and vital part of the family
of Green Point Flyers family. He leaves behind a beautiful wife Barb and his
daughter Meghan and her new family. Scot was an intelligent and caring big man,
a big comedian, a larger than life personality, and a big loveable guy! He had a strong and vital Christian faith. Scot was well read in all aspects of
flying and many areas. He could debate with the best at those memorable and epic
Green Point campfires, potlucks, flying days, and travel flying trips to other
club sites across the eastern US. As former president of GPFA, active BOD member, and pilot, he contributed much
to the club, site improvements, and site preservation in countless ways for 36
years. Many pilots both here in Michigan and other places got to know Scot,
because one of the joys in his flying career was meeting new pilots wherever he
traveled and whenever they visited Green Point. He was a prominent and likeable
public face and ambassador for the GPFA wherever he traveled.
