At the last edition of the SA Open there was this amazing epic
goal arrival. After racing like crazy on 'the white highway,' passing the
stiffies so fast that the rigid pilots who made goal wondered why they were
flying rigids, Piero had won every single edition of the competition to date and
after Luis's death in July 2013, he kinda became the mascot of this comp.

In the light of Piero's death, Johanna and I would like to give another try at
the Dedalus Foundation project that Piero and I and initiated when Luis died.

The Free Flying community is grieving for one of its dearest member who
tragically left us the 13th of August during a tandem flight. Gianpietro Zin
(better known as Piero) was a genuine hang gliding competition pilot and member
of the French National Team until recently. (He quit the competition circuit
late 2015, following the death of two of his dearest friends, Luis and Thibault).
Committed, generous and a passionate pilot, with a thirst to share, he has
fought relentlessly to promote high and strong free flight and in all its
flavors.

Drawn by his passion towards voluntary work through the help of young pilots
during progression flying courses, he had also started the instructor training
to become a hang gliding certified instructor, still and always animated by this
obsession to share, share and share again, have people discover the joy of being
"Free as the wind".

Piero, you can’t imagine how deep is the void you are leaving behind you. Nobody
will ever fill it.

Farewell to you

The club he recently joined wishes to organize a little fundraising in order to
help and support Helene, his life partner, hang gliding pilot herself and for a
while, member of the Woman’s French Hang Gliding Team.

Le monde du vol libre pleure un être cher à nous tous, qui vient de disparaître
tragiquement le 13 août dernier, lors d'un vol biplace. Gianpetro Zin (notre
Piero) était un pilote delta émérite, compétiteur et membre de l'équipe de
France jusqu'à récemment (il avait arrêté la compétition en 2015, suite à deux
tragiques accidents de pilotes qui lui étaient très chers). Pilote engagé,
généreux, passionné, serviable, ayant soif de partage, il s'est toujours battu
pour porter haut et fort le vol libre, sous tous ses formes.

Sa passion l'avait tout naturellement dirigé vers le bénévolat sous la forme
d'accompagnement de jeunes pilotes, lors de stages de perfectionnement ; en
parallèle, il avait démarré une formation de moniteur, toujours avec cette même
obsession, partager, partager et encore partager, faire découvrir les joies
d'être "libre comme l'air".

Piero, tu n'imagines pas à quel point tu laisses un grand vide, que nul ne saura
combler.

Bon vent à toi.

Le club dont il faisait partie et le Comité National Delta souhaitent faire une
collecte afin de soutenir autant que possible Hélène, sa compagne, elle-même
pilote delta et pendant un temps, membre de l'équipe de France.

Il mondo del volo libero piange un uomo caro a tutti noi, che é scomparso
tragicamente il 13 agosto scorso, durante un volo in biposto. Gianpietro Zin (il
nostro Piero) era un deltaplanista di eccellenza, membro della squadra francese
fino a poco tempo fa (aveva smesso la competizione nel 2015, in seguito ai
tragici incidenti di due piloti a lui molto cari). Pilota impegnato, generoso,
appassionato, sempre disponibile e con molta voglia di condividere, si é sempre
impegnato per portare in alto il volo libero, in tutte le sue forme.

La sua passione l'aveva portato in modo naturale verso l'accompagnamento dei
nuovi piloti durante i corsi di perfezionamento federali; in parallelo aveva
cominciato un corso di istruttore, sempre con l'obiettivo di condividere,
condividere e ancora condividere, e far scoprire le gioie di essere "liberi come
l'aria".

Piero, non immagini fino a che punto ci lasci un grande vuoto, che niente potrà
colmare.

Il club di cui Piero faceva parte e il Comité National Delta desiderano fare una
colletta per aiutare il più possibile Hélène, la sua compagna, lei stessa pilota
e in passato elemento della squadra francese femminile di delta.

El mundo del vuelo libre llora un ser querido de todos nosotros. Desapareció de
manera trágica mientras un vuelo en tándem. Gianpietro Zin (más conocido bajo el
nombre de Piero) era un piloto delta emérito, competidor y miembro del equipo de
Francia hasta poco (el paro la competición en 2015, después de dos trágicos
accidentes de pilotos muy queridos), piloto voluntario, generoso y apasionado,
servicial, teniendo el deseo de compartir, él siempre luchó para llevar alto y
claro el vuelo libre bajo todas sus formas.

Su pasión lo había dirigido muy naturalmente hacia el voluntariado bajo la forma
de acompañamiento de jóvenes pilotos mientras prácticas de perfeccionamiento ;
en paralelo, él había empezado una formación de instructor, siempre con esta
misma obsesión : compartir, compartir, y siempre compartir, hacer descubrir la
felicidad de ser "libre como el aire".

Piero, no tienes idea del inmenso vacío que dejas y que nadie logrará llenar
jamás.

Te deseamos un viento propicio Piero.

El club del que formaba parte últimamente desea hacer una colecta con el fin de
sostener en lo posible Hélène, su compañera, ella misma piloto delta y durante
un tiempo miembro del equipo de Francia.
