Tom's too high
1022 hPA = about 216 below mean sea level (http://www.sensorsone.com/altitude-pre
re-units-conversion) and SeeYou showing: QNH = 4064', QNE = 3848', (http://code7700.com/altimetry_metric.html
).
216 = 65.8 meters.
If I do the simple dumb thing and add 2,728 meters (the max pressure elevation
on Toms Oudie 3 IGC track log) and 65.8 meters I get 2,794 meters (19 meters
over the maximum height limit).
SeeYou shows Toms maximum height at 9,128 or 2,782.2 meters with QNH = 1019.4
which is the default with pressure altitude at goal equal to GPS altitude (off
about four feet). (7.2 meters over)
If I set the QNH in SeeYou to 1022 (it resets it to 1021.99) SeeYou shows Toms
maximum altitude at 9,219 or 2,810 meters or 35 meters over. Pilots were
instructed to set QNH to 1022 at launch or 4,068'.
So in all cases Tom is over the maximum height limit and in the case where
pilots were instructed to set QNH to 1022 he is 35 meters over. Yes the pressure
changes during the day so that he is only 7.2 meters over if pilots were,
through some power of foresight on the part of the organizers, told to set their
QNH on launch to 1019.4.
