With a forecast for 18 to 20 mph southwest surface winds (NAM and
RAP) at 2 PM and a local (GFS) NWS forecast of 15 mph gusting to 21 mph at 1 PM
and later 17 mph gusting to 25 mph the safety committee met early and canceled
the day.

The winds at 9:55 AM were 13 mph ESE at the Casa Grande Municipal Airport and
the local forecast for that time was for 14 mph, south southeast gusting to 20
mph. The winds seemed light at the Francisco Grande Hotel.

The sky contained cirrus clouds and what looked like lenticular mid-level clouds
perpendicular to a southwest wind to our west.

Going to go see Sully this afternoon.

The forecast was correct as we listened to the wind howling through our room at the Francisco Grande.
