A group of pilots in West Virginia recently opened a new site at
Canaan Valley State Park due to the amazing park superintendent Stan Beafore,
who sought out USHPA member Ben Herrick when he heard that the area was renowned
for favorable flight conditions.

With the assistance of the Foundation for Free Flight; safety plans, insurance
and framework for certification through USHPA; and most importantly a lot of
elbow grease from local pilots, club, and state park officials, they
successfully opened USHPA’s newest east coast site.

A magnificent launch, that is set to become a cornerstone in the flying
community. This is a great example of how it all come together with a strong
local push. A huge thank you to Stan Beafore, Ben Herrick, Bob Hoke, the
Foundation for Free Flight, and the Mountaineer Hang Gliding Association.
