2017 Racing Competitions at Quest Air
As part of the upcoming Cross Country Season at Quest Air we will
also put on three weeks of more intense cross country flying with race to goal
scoring. These competitions will take the place of the previous Green Swamp
Sport Classic, and the Quest Air Open and Reopen as flown in 2016. These competitions will be a step up from our Spring Cross Country Season as
they will include race to goal scoring and they will require additional
registration for those periods so that we can be sure to have adequate towing
and other resources available. They will also require pilots to arrange for
retrieval. The Sport Class Mentoring session will take place from Sunday, March 26th
through Saturday, April 1st. It will be run pretty much as we have run the Green
Swamp Sport Klassic for the past two years, with rotating mentors hooking up
with small groups of sport class pilots to help them get around the course each
day. More information will be available as we get this organized. The cost will be
$25 in addition to the $25 for the cross country season. The two Quest Air Open Cross Country Events will take place starting Sunday,
April 16th and go through Saturday, April 22nd. The second event will start
Monday, April 24th and go through Sunday, April 30th. We might move these dates
one day later to work around Easter. Race to goal competitions. Pretty much like the Quest Air Open for the last two
years. Except: No USHPA fee No USHPA NTSS points No USHPA event insurance No CIVL sanctioning fee No WPRS points No pre-paid dinners. Pilots are welcome to organize their own using the Quest
Air kitchen and local restaurants No trophies, just fun No prize money, no big entry fees No meet director, pilot organized No safety director, pilot organized safety committee No meet organizer, just us pilots here Just towing, retrieval and camping fees. Live Tracking Race to goal scoring. The fee for each competition will be $25 per week plus the cross country season
fee of $25, for a total of $75 if you do both comps. Sport, Open and Single surface classes As you can see we are just in the beginning of working this out. We are looking
for pilot input now so that we can make adjustments to meet pilot needs. Again, more soon on our plans.
