Children in Cape Verde had a very special visit this Christmas:
presents arrived from the sky, brought by a flying Santa Claus, but since there
are no reindeers in Africa, Santa arrived on a hang glider.

Emiliano Carvalho, our flying Santa Claus, started preparing this idea on the
early days of December. Living in Cape Verde for just three months now, this
free flight instructor is already well known by all on Sao Vicente’s island,
where he has been surprising everyone by flying daily with his paraglider and
hang glider. It was in one of this adventures that the Portuguese pilot stumble
upon Salamansa for the first time, a small village of fishermen in Sao Vicente,
for the delight of the few hundreds of children living there and that for the
first time were seeing someone fly. From there on, Emiliano has been flying
regularly in Salamansa, digging smiles and enthusiasm from the kids.
