Open SA 2017 and French Open

I was finally able to use enough of the clinic's wifi bandwidth to
centralize, classify (delete quite a few out of focus ones) and upload all the
official pictures from the 4th Edition of the SA Open. They were all taken by
Christine Lavigne Delville and a few by William. It's a shared album so anybody
can add pictures taken during the comp normally:

This was the first time that live tracking and live scoring was used for a
French Class 1 comp and it was a true success and we will be using the same
system for the French Open late august.
The comp has been validated and WPRS points allocated by FAI/CIVL last week
already thanks to Brian my scorer and Claudia, CIVL coordinator who have done a
great and fast job since I was in the hospital:

4 Days, 4 Tasks, 4 Countries represented but a little less than 20 pilots. It's a
bit disappointing to put up such an extensive organization for so few pilots
showing up and this is the lowest participation for the Open we ever had (we have
had up to almost 60 pilots a couple years back).
The fact that the Swiss nationals happened at the same dates this year didn't
help for sure since they usually have the Open as part of their championship but
that's life.
I want to say thank you to all the pilots who came and trusted us again with
this event. Especially the Bretons (Monique, Patrick, Jean-Yves and his fan
club). Thumbs up to Julia and the Ukrainian for taking a long drive all the way
down here and were with Marcello, the only European pilots to take advantage of
the comps back to back!
I would like to thank all our Institutional partners, FFVL Fédération Française
de Vol Libre, CND and the Region's League for their little financial support;
Our usual 'Industry' partners Valou, Francois and all the staff from Aerogliss
Ecole et boutique Parapente; Verity, Charlotte, Markus & Edd Ed Ewing from Cross
Country Magazine; Clement Latour Sup'Air and Sophie Maurel Ffvl and new ones
Gipsy & Christian Icaro for their help with prizes, lots and merchandising
year after year; Monica from Flymaster Avionics for the trackers, Elena Filonova
from Airtribune, Raïssa, Jenny and Jeremie from Comptoir Occitan for the Organic
and Faire Trade T shirts, posters, maps etc. and Anne from Camping Monteglin for
renting us the Shuttle.
And least but not last, as always, the, Staff... the heart of a competition
without whom nothing happens! They are about the same people every year to come
and give of their time, heart and dedication to make themselves available so to
the comp can be run the best way as possible (we try to improve a little every
year). Bertrand (Head of staff) & Christine Lavigne Delville (Photo), Philippe B
(Security Marshall), JP the Medic, William, Jacouille, Luc & JM as Launch
Assistant, Laird Aodrenn & Fred Pignet for the shuttles and retrieves, Our wind
dummies, Laurent Tronchet and Jean Galino (I was supposed to validate their IPP5
pilots license during the comp but my accident decided otherwise), JY's fan
club, coming all the way from Bretagne! AND finally Brian and Louise, my Duo de
choc. And well, Eva, what can I say, the list is too long.
I think I have not forgotten everybody.
So please mark your calendars because we hope to see you in larger numbers for
the 5th edition which will happen (like every year) during the Ascension holiday
week end which falls from May 10th to 13th in 2018.
And don't forget to register for the French Open (FAI Cat. 2) organized by Atout
Vents this year late august in Mt. Lachens (South of France), home turf of legend
Michael de Glanville, birthplace of the modern XC flying in France. I believe
this will be the next comp of the season and should attract all the hungry
pilots who just didn't get enough out of the season:
