A Vancouver man died Thursday while paragliding off Dog Mountain
after his parachute became tangled and collapsed, according to the Lewis County
Sheriffs Office.
At 7:45 p.m. Thursday, deputies responded to the 700 block of Champion Hall Road
after receiving a report of the incident.
According to the Sheriffs Office, two paragliders a 68-year-old man from
Vancouver, Washington, and a 71-year-old man from Beaverton, Oregon were
paragliding together off Dog Mountain. The men reportedly got too close and
their parachutes became tangled.
The Vancouver mans parachute reportedly collapsed, causing him to fall to the
ground at a high rate of speed. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Beaverton mans chute partially closed, but slowed his fall enough that he
was only injured, according to the Sheriffs Office.
