The 2017 Willi XC Challenge just ended. It was a great
competition, set up for both HG and PG in Golden, BC. Except for some some
intense smoke at times, we had excellent flying conditions for 9 straight days.
I flew 8 days and had a blown launch (got away with minor scrapes and flew again
the next day). Altogether I got roughly 25 hours in the air and well over 1000
km. If you're looking for an exceptional place to fly for a week, consider
joining in the next Willi XC.
I ended up with 564 points from my 3 best flights and again won the Hang Gliding
first place, a repeat from last year. Canada has been quite good for me
competition-wise these past couple of years, taking 5 wins in the last 6 comps I
attended, and one second place. My trusty Aeros Combat C has been spectacular. I
look forward to competing again in the US, hopefully soon.
