Flatland Flying

You will see video of a Dutchman flying from a tall building. It
happened at 7 AM local time in the Netherlands. The information that's available
now is mostly in Dutch so I will write in English what I know.
The pilot is Arne Tänzer, current Dutch National champion. The stunt is
organized by Wim de Gier and others to promote hang gliding in the Netherlands.
The flight was delayed by one day because of the wind direction. Wim and a bunch
of volunteers did an awesome job of organizing and promoting this stunt.

Hang Gliding in The Netherlands is more restricted than it is in the USA. The
volunteers had to apply for a permit to get the landing zone designated as an
official airport for the duration of the stunt. The 600' tall building is a
Utrecht Science Park campus with dorm rooms. The building has been used as a
tall point for other sports such as rappelling and base jumping but never for
hang gliding.
A major Dutch news outlet called RTL News streamed it live. As of this morning,
video of this event is viewed more than 80,000 times and Facebook shares are in
excess of 100. For one day, hang gliding is getting a lot of attention in the
Netherlands.
