Notes from last week's USHPA BOD meeting
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1tCQPlt3NkdEtLsE37yTYsv1KCQOQQsG5E_FLY5DEq5c/edit
The board is really pushing towards streamlining from 27 members
to 7. Lots to be said there. Not sure I love the idea, but I am keeping an open
mind because so many folks have issue with the current structure, feeling like
we are paralyzed by our size. Personally I appreciate the diversity in the BOD. RRRG booked claims losses of $217,000
This number is made up of just over
$4,000 for actual claims paid (3rd party liability claim for damaged property),
$67,000 was recorded as a (and is held aside as a reserve) for recorded
incidents that have not yet resulted in any claims, and the big number is
$147,000 for IBNR (incurred but not reported) which is the insurance actuarys
guess about unreported claims activity that could result in future claims. So we
actually only spent $4,000 but the rest will take us a long time to get back as
the statute of limitations is often 6 years. For injured minors that 6 years
starts when they turn 18.
