Seeing is avoiding
Hang Gliding committee proposes:
Aim: Require contrast marking and numbers on competing hang
gliders. Discussion: The current trend in hang gliding is towards darker gray
sail - material that decrease s visibility in the air significantly compared to
earlier shiny white gliders. To improve visibility and make glider identification easier, we propose
requiring hang gliders in Category 1 events to have two patches of contrasting
material with competition numbers on their leading edge. The background
patch and numbers are to be provided by the organizer. The technical details of
the markings, size, colours and so on shall be decided by a hang gliding
working group and added as an addendum to the rule in Section 7. Proposal : Section 7 Common 5.2.4 Add to the rule: Hang Gliding: To improve
visibility and make glider identification easier, all competitor gliders must
display two organizer - provided patches of contrasting material with
competition numbers on their leading edges. http://www.fai.org/page/civl-meetings
