Going big in Texas

We have three slots open for the cross country camp in Refugio
down on the Texas Gulf Coast, running June 25th - July 7th. There is a group of
10 pilots signed up to go long from the Refugio Regional airport with Gregg
Ludwig and Mustang Airsports providing aerotowing services.
Refugio was the start point for early sailplane world distance flights and
indeed has excellent potential for hang gliding record flights, with early cloud
streets, strong south easterly tail-winds and very friendly down course terrain.
We had fun last year during a shorter trip when the winds didnt really turn up
with the direction and strength we wanted but the group still managed many
personal bests and several 200+ mile flights. With the right conditions, 400+
mile flights are for sure possible.
I would recommend Refugio for not only experienced cross country pilots chasing
ultimate records but also for pilots with good aerotow experience chasing their
first 100 or 200 miler. There is not a better place for that. The fees are only
the tow fees for Mustang Airsports ($280/week) with pilots expected to organize
their own retrieve etc. Possible to sign up for one or both weeks.
