Friday the CAPE is higher and there is more moisture in the air.
The winds are stronger too. Jonny takes off early with mottled looking streets
coming off of the gulf. He gets up near Goliad and lands. Glen and Nathan get up
and out too. Base is only about 2200' but Glen manages to fly to Yoakum and Nate
lands south of Cuero for ~65 and 40 miles respectively. The rest of the field
goes down early or chooses not to fly.

Saturday is a repeat with more wind. Some rough tows out of the field in
15-25mph wind. Jonny again gets off early. Glen, Nate and Robin all make it out
on course.

Robin reports that he doesn't hit his first thermal until he's 20km out. Gregg
stops tow operations due to unsafe tow conditions so two pilots don't launch.

My tow was good except for a big thermal that takes Gregg high above me. The
line goes slack and comes back to the right corner of the control frame. I grab
it and move it back to the center and consider releasing but decide to stay on
as the slack goes away and I start climbing again. The rest of the tow is
uneventful and Gregg takes me high between the clouds.

I also don't get a thermal for a long time. Down to 300' I hit a nasty surge
that is taking me directly to a cell tower a mile downwind. As I climb out I
check my altitude relative to the tower and finally get above it to 800'.

I lose it and two minutes later on final get pounded down toward the ground over
a nice long open field (must have been the edge of the nasty that I lost) and
just barely squeak in for a no stepper. The flight was a bit sporty for my
taste.

Later the Corpus Christi weather reports gusts up to 31 mph in our area.
Meanwhile Jonny keeps cruising never getting very high and ends up about 90
miles out and Robin gets maybe 75 miles.
