There is no waiting list
We, and just about everyone else, uses Airtribune for registration
of their hang gliding and paragliding competitions. We have been using it for
years, starting when it first became available. One of the weaknesses of
Airtribune is that the default pilot status is "waiting list." That status just
means that you have registered. That's it. We take great pains in our competition announcements and on-line documentation
to point out that this does not mean that there is a waiting list or that you
are on it. It just means that you have registered. We don't know why the
original author of Airtribune thought that this would be clever, we clearly do
not think it is. Once you pay your entry fees, we change your status to "missing requirements,"
which means that you have yet to fill out your waivers. Once you do that we
change your status to "confirmed." We have never turned anyone away from one of our competitions. If the number of
entrants exceeds our original estimates and plans, we have just expanded our
resources with the help of Russell Brown and associated tug owners and pilots. This year we have had many more entrants than we originally planned for. This is
a problem that we want to have. We have planned to bring additional resources to
Big Spring. We had more than enough resources for the 2018 Green Swamp Klassic
and the 2018 Quest Air Nationals. If you think that you are on a waiting list, be advised that you are not on a
waiting list. We are just awaiting your payment of the entry fee and your focus
on filling out the waivers.
