Almost to Montana.

Jeff Beck flies 177 miles to almost Montana (and chooses the right area to make
that possible) from Chelan Butte well into Idaho and almost across the border.

The route is to the north of the route that gets pilots near Coeur d'Alene past
Spokane. This is the first time I've seen anyone try this route. It makes a lot
of sense if you can get past Lake Pend Oreille as the valley is open toward
Montana, unlike going via Wallace (http://www.paraglidingforum.com/leonardo/flight/1454687)
at 192 miles. He went over areas that were not landable with a hang glider.

Yesterday was an amazing day to be a hang glider pilot in Eastern
Washington. I managed to fly 177 miles straight line from Lake Chelan to Clark
Fork, Idaho just about ten miles short of Montana. It was awesome stretching my
final glide across the massive Lake Pend Oreille and maybe another pilot can
someday finish the route I tried to push through across the Idaho pan handle.
For now I am just happy to have completed the longest open distance flex wing
hang glider flight flown from Chelan Butte. Thank you Stacey for not leaving me
out there and for the cold beer when I landed. Good luck to all the pilots
flying in the comp next week.

Larry Jorgenson on a rigid wing, 183 miles. Matt Senior on a
paraglider not too far behind him.
