Team Challenge 2009 starts Sunday September 27th and ends Saturday October 3rd. We'll have the same emphasis on learning and mentoring with multiple seminars from the experts and video launch and landing clinics every day. We hope to have great food and entertainment on site so no one has to leave our beautiful property except for cross country retrieval.
Team Challenge 2009 will be a little different this time. We are going to have two classes. The usual highly affordable "Sport Class" with talented A' pilots leading their teams of B's and C's and a small "Gettin' Ready to Race" Class of highly motivated and talented pilots who are willing to pay a premium to be mentored in the race format by the very best racers we can attract.
The "Gettin' It Class" will be focused on learning to optimize race starts, on course team flying, and final glide skills, tactics that will help "Gettin' It" pilots beat all their buddies into goal. It will be a primer in how to really race. This class is directed at pilots who've been flying cross country a lot but haven't put it all together enough to be really fast and competitive in the cross country race format meets. It should prepare pilots to race in meets like the Florida Ridge, Big Spring and Santa Cruz Flats where time to goal is a factor.
We hope to score speed in the "Gettin' It" Class by Gap 2002 or OzGap 2005 to make it as real as possible. We'll have just a few pilots in this class with our most accomplished racing pilots mentoring them. The "Sport Class" of Team Challenge will be scored as usual. "Sport Class" pilots and wings will be handicapped and scored without time as a factor. Team Challenge 2009 will be lots of fun. We think this format will become the next evolution for hang gliding teaching meets.
