Mike Haley <<email>>, USHPA Director at Large, Competition Committee Chair writes:
A draft of the new competition system was reviewed and approved unanimously by all Board of Directors at the fall 2008 BOD meeting in Chattanooga.
As I recall this is a false statement. It is my understanding that at the last BOD meeting the BOD approved the Competition Workgroup to continue with the process of developing a new plan for competition. That the next step was soliciting input from the stakeholders and USHPA members and BOD members.
This in itself has the process called for by the USHPA rules backwards, as I have pointed out previously. The competition organizers, meet directors, and competition pilots are supposed to be contacted and input sought from them at the beginning of the process, not after it is almost complete.
Mike writes:
Now begins the review part of the process. We are asking that the general membership take a look at the new competition system and give us your response. To do this, just go online to http://www.ushpa.aero/member_comp_restructure.asp to see a Draft of the new Competition Rulebook or to review the PowerPoint presentation viewed by the USHPA Board of Directors. The entire review process, including your feedback, can be done online. You will need to sign into Members Only to access the page, so if you cannot get in, contact the office to have your password reset.
I will have a lot more to say about this very soon.
Why would we not be notified of this by the USHPA until Thanksgiving night?
