On Thursday, March 5, 2009, I had the best flight of my life in terms of challenges and personal accomplishments. Plenty of things went wrong along the way and I struggled to salvage what I could from the flight and was handsomely rewarded in the end. I was able to capture the first hour and a half on video before I consumed my available camera memory but I narrated the entire three hour event and utilized voice-over narration while recapping the rest of the flight using a screen capture of my 3D animated track log in SeeYou. The total running time is 33-minutes and it was edited so that the action and commentary is non-stop. I placed all four episodes onto a playlist on YouTube and it is available in high quality for full-screen enjoyment.
The USHPA will eventually be hosting both flight videos series in non-stop full resolution on their new video web page. Leo Bynum must have learned about it thanks to the Oz Report broadcast of my last series. I've been getting a lot of positive feedback and what's especially nice to hearing from people who's interest in flying X-C has been piqued. On one response I mentioned that the Oz Report extremely well written comp reports have been very valuable to my own endeavors into cross country flying.
