Two members of the 2009 British National team are here with other British pilots. Three US National team members are here also. We are flying in a team competition. The task today given the 12 mph forecasted northeast winds was to the south southeast to I4 and highway 27 and back to Quest.

The start time is unclear so we use whatever start times each pilot has from a 2km start circle.

I am off first and climb right out to cloud base. The idea is that I'm supposed to wait for everyone else and we'll all start together within the 2 km start circle. I hang around as the clouds build thick just to our north with rain ten miles to the northeast. I watch the other pilots launch but don't have radio contact with anyone else. I forgot to get Jeff on our USA channel. Dustin will start much later.

At 1:46 (supposedly our last start time was earlier supposed to be 1:45) at cloud base and over Jeff I head to get within the 2 km start circle. I don't see anyone else around but the pilots on the ground have stopped towing. The area just to our north and at Quest is all shaded with no lift. There is sun shine and plenty of lift just to the south. I'm still waiting for pilots to get together, but they don't.

Jeff and Carl start to the west (downwind). I should have just stayed with Jeff, but I was too close to the clouds. No one gets together but for the most part have blown downwind. I have gone way upwind.

I don't know what is up with the task, and not finding lift at Quest land. Dustin will launch a few minutes later, but I decide not to do the task.

Dustin has a very fast climb on the way back and gets a very long final glide in a cross wind to win the day. Carl is in first with Jeff just three minutes behind him.
