I saw the news about Rolex and the FAI, here is the point. Recently, a famous (in France) old man named Jacques Séguéla, a former advertiser and adviser of politics, was reported to have said a sentence that instantly gave him a new fame which he would have preferred to avoid. He said something like, "At the age of 50, if you are not able to buy yourself a ROLEX, you cannot claim to have had a successful life."

As you can imagine, the guy was dragged in the dust and covered up with media-mud. Not only was the idea stupid and insulting, but also was the context extremely cruel with  companies closing every day and people being fired every where. So Séguéla harvested what he had sown and felt obliged to make official excuses, and came up with the idea to buy a Rolex and give it to an association which would sell it and use the money to help people in the need.

The story may seem ridiculous. Now, was really Rolex unaware of this?
