Comparing the Wills Wing T2C-154 with the T2C-144 (Part 2)
When Dustin Martin and Jeff O'Brien flew down from Quest Air to Wallaby Ranch last Saturday they both flew Wills Wing T2C-144's. Jeff was just getting use to his (he previously flew the 154). They were flying together and near each other at first.
At one point Dustin went one way and Jeff went the other and gained a bunch of altitude on Dustin. After that he maintained two miles on Dustin the rest of the way. Jeff was happy with this as he was concerned about going to the smaller glider.
When they got to Wallaby they took a couple of short climbs together and Jeff and Dustin had about the same climb rate (Dustin felt that Jeff climbed as well or better than him). They had a short 50 mph glide together at Wallaby and Dustin felt he was slightly better in glide.
Jeff and I weigh the same (175 pounds) and Dustin weighs 160 pounds. I hook in at 212 pounds (1.97 lbs/sq.ft.), Jeff hooks in at 225 pounds (2.05 lbs/sq.ft.) and Dustin at 205 pounds (1.92 lbs/sq.ft.). The top end range for hook-in weight for the 144 is supposed to be 235 pounds.
