Super day in Florida
The forecast was for northwest winds. The forecast missed the fact that the cloud base would be very high. My task was to get down to the Florida Ridge with my trailer, but I was hoping to fly down while Belinda drove the trailer down. Of course, I would not be around if there was a problem driving the trailer down.
The sky was blue at Quest Air at 1 PM, but there were clouds to the south by Dean Still Road. I decided to break down and drive the trailer down given that it looked like it might be tough to get the first twenty five miles south before the cu's. As soon as I got to I4 there were beautiful cu's all the way into south Florida.
As I set up the trailer at the Ridge I saw Eric Paquette landing his ATOS VX. Three ATOS pilots from Canada made it down to the Ridge, one landing a few miles south of the Ridge. It took Eric three and a half hours. The task is about 100 miles. The cloud base was about 8,000'. Tomorrow looks good also.
