Cover your boot

I have recommended this material for placing on your harness boot to keep it from being chewed up. But you can see from the pictures above it wasn't that nice looking for me, and that was because I followed the instructions that came with Tuff Toe Pro.
The other day I bought another $20.00 tube of Tuff Toe Pro and this time I ignored their instructions and this is the result:
I have covered the carbon fiber plate with Tuff Toe Pro. Sure it is the protective surface but it was scratching, so I put Tuff Toe on it. I also put Tuff Toe Pro on the leather piece at the top of the plate.
I've flown and landed and dragged the boot across the field through six landings since I did this and there isn't a mark on the surfaces.
I did a few things different than the instructions. There are three additional nozzles that come with the kit. I cut the mixing nozzle down to allow me to get the most matter at once. I would say cut the nozzle down to about two inches.
Second, I used a little squeegee, about the size and shape of a credit card (maybe a little bigger) to spread the Tuff Toe Pro around the carbon fiber plate and the leather patch. I would squeeze out a bit of Tuff Toe Pro and then spread it around right away. It dries in about five minutes, so don't wait long.
It is very liquid at first so be careful at the edges. I didn't put any masking tape at the edges, but for a cleaner appearance you can. It still isn't as beautiful as you can make it, but much better than last time.
I used less than a third of a tube for this. It is a much thinner application than last time. I put on two applications (using two mixer nozzles), one five minutes after the first one. This was to make it a little thicker.
Tuff Toe Pro is supposed to be good for thirty days after you open it up. I'm going to do another boot with what I have left. I'd think that you could do two boots with one tube. You might want to get together with friends to share one tube.
I would make it thicker if I was anticipating landing and launching from asphalt like at Big Spring.
