The Italian championship in 2009 is a hang gliding FAI event (Fédération Aéronautique Internationale) category 2. The competitions will select the Italian champion in hang gliding, but the "open" allows the participation of pilots from all over the world. The competitions will take place with takeoffs and landings in the province of Parma, but the races can be expected to fly over the provinces of Modena and Reggio Emilia.

The main sites identified for the event are:

Tizzano Val Parma ("Paglia" Center): Operations Center, events, ceremonies and award ceremonies.
Monte Caio (Costa large): Take-off Area
Torrechiara (Langhirano ): Landing and collateral events.

The timing of the event includes the opening on August 16 and follow the races for a total of seven tasks (from Monday 17 to Sunday 23)
